We provide a team on a seven-week rota to record the Talking Newspaper for visually impaired people in Carlisle and the surrounding area.

Soroptimists support WaterAid because the target of clean water and sanitation for all is one of the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development, and the lack of these facilities impacts disproportionately on women and girls. Every year in Lent our members collect their loose change as a donation.

Some of our members have knitted ‘twiddlemuffs’ for the local hospital for use by dementia patients. They are hand muffs with interesting attachments such as buttons, crocheted flowers, ribbons, and other bits and pieces which make them fun to play with and help to make patients less agitated.
